DeRoux Peak and Point 5885 - 8.18.2015
A photo of the GPS track of our trip to Point 5885 and DeRoux Peak... 10.7 miles roundtrip, gaining 3875 feet of elevation.

We started at the Boulder DeRoux Trailhead (~3800') located at the north end of the DeRoux Campground... the 'Trailhead Directions' link above these photos will only take you to the entrance for the campground... then you still need to drive another quarter mile to the north end of the campground to find the trailhead.

DeRoux Creek is very low.
|
After hiking 1.5 miles on the Boulder DeRoux Trail we will take the DeRoux Spur Trail up to the Koppen DeRoux Saddle.

Lots of smoke in the air today as we hike up the DeRoux Spur Trail... looking across the valley to the ridge that connects Teanaway Peak and Longs Pass.

We have reached the Koppen DeRoux Saddle (~5050') after hiking the DeRoux Spur Trail for 1 mile. We will continue on the spur trail down into the valley... then connect with the Middle Fork Teanaway trail and go up valley before going cross country to Points 5885 and 6080+.

We will continue up valley on the Middle Fork Teanaway Trail.

We found a horse camp in a large meadow at 5100 feet.
|
A water source at the 5100 meadow near the horse camp... we will go off trail here and head for the low point on the ridge on the right... then turn left and head for Point 5885 on the left.

Above the 5100 foot meadow now... we have found an animal trail that will take us to the saddle between Points 5885 and 6080+.

Getting closer to Point 5885... after we summit 5885 we will go back down to the saddle and then head up to Point 6080+ on the ridge in the distance.
