Diamond Head - 3.21.2008
Start on the north side of Blewett Pass... ski 3.5 miles on FS9716... then 1.5 miles on FS9712 to the junction with FS35... then north, off-road for .5 miles to the top of Diamond Head.
After .5 miles FS9716 passes the start of the Swauk Forest Discovery Trail.
Diamond Head from FS9716... this is snowmobile country and you probably wouldn't enjoy skiing this road system on a weekend.
A close-up of Diamond Head from FS9716... I didn't realize it at the time, but the high point on Diamond Head is surrounded by trees... in other words, no views from the high point.
After skiing 3.5 miles on FS9716 it's time to turn left on FS9712.
Some of the Teanaway Peaks and the Stuart Range from FS9712.

After skiing FS9712 for 1.5 miles you will come to a junction with FS35 which takes you to Table Mtn... here I will head north, off-road for .5 miles to the top of Diamond Head.
I took off my skis and started hiking when I came to this wind-blown ridge... my last look at the mountains before I hike into the trees to find the top of Diamond Head... the weather is getting worse.
From the wind-blown ridge I can see an unnamed bump east of Diamond Head which would provide better views than the treed high point on Diamond Head.
