Iron Mountain - 1.14.2010
rodman's GPS route for our trip to Iron Mtn... the King Creek parking area (~2400') is ~10 miles north of Swauk Pass... this snowshoe trip was 11.5 miles roundtrip, gaining 3475 feet of elevation.

Before we settled on the King Creek starting point for our trip, we got stuck on the Scotty Creek/Old Blewett Road... at first bridge crossing... the right rear tire is off of the bridge surface.

The right front tire is half on and half off of the bridge surface.

A nice winch and pulley system is going to rescue us.

Now the front end of the car is in good shape... we were one of the 30 or so cars that the tow truck driver rescues on this bridge each year.

We decided to get away from the Scotty Creek/Old Blewett Road and drive another mile north on Hwy 97 and park at King Creek... finally starting out after a 2.5 hour delay.

After snowshoeing for a mile or so we get a nice view of the west end of Sheep Mtn.

After snowshoeing for ~2.5 miles on the King Creek road, we go cross-country.
