Tamanos Mountain - 10.17.2011
rodman's GPS route for our trip to Tamanos Mountain... 9.5 miles roundtrip, gaining 3040 feet of elevation.

From the White River entrance to Mt. Rainier National Park... drive 2 miles to the trailhead parking area (3720') on the right side of the road. The trail starts on the left side of the road.

Shortly after the bridge crossing we came out of the trees and got this view of Tamanos Mountain.

A quarter mile beyond the lakes we got our first view of the Cowlitz Chimneys... this is where we left the main trail and followed the boot path to the right.

The true summit is a short distance beyond this bump... however, the conditions look too risky for us to make the traverse over to the summit.
