From Blewett Pass on Hwy 97, drive east .8 miles and park in a plowed area where Hwy 97 junctions with FS 7240.
rodman's GPS route of our loop trip to Mt. Lillian and Tronsen Head... 10.7 miles roundtrip, gaining 3132 feet of elevation.
The plowed area (~3900') on the east side of Blewett Pass where Hwy 97 junctions with FS 7240.
.8 miles east of Blewett Pass, FS 7240 is clearly signed.
From Hwy 97 we will walk on FS 7240 for 1.5 miles to the Tronsen Meadow trailhead.
We are in the spotlight.
Shoeing along FS 7240.
Still on FS 7240... Izzy keeping track of everyone.
Snowdog and robman on FS 7240... gradually gaining elevation.
The group takes a brief break to discuss the meaning of life.
rocman on FS 7240... with Tronsen Head (left) and Tronsen Knob in the distance.
After walking for 1.5 miles we have reached the Tronsen Meadow trailhead (~4400').
We have left FS 7240 and are following the Tronsen Meadow Trail.
Break time... on steeper terrain now.
ragman, rocman and jokman.
Izzy seems to always be patrolling.
At ~5200 feet we are high enough to see the Stuart Range to the north.
iraman.
We didn't expect to see clouds today.
At ~5600 feet we have found easier terrain.
At ~5600 feet we found the Beehive/Liberty road and used it for a short distance before leaving it and re-entering the woods... looking for Point 5907 now.
At Point 5907... Snowdog yawns, BarbE checks her lottery ticket and Izzy wonders why Snowdog is hitting her in the face with a ski pole... we are getting close to the Lillian summit now.
iraman nears the Mt. Lillian summit.
The group is gathering on the Mt. Lillian summit (6191').
robman and Snowdog on Mt. Lillian... Mission Peak in the distance on the left.
ragman and Izzy are trying to convince everyone that the views are better a short distance NW of the true summit.
BarbE leads the rest of the group over to the best viewpoint on Mt. Lillian.
From our viewpoint we have a nice view of the Teanaway Peaks and Stuart Range... Tronsen Head is the snowy ridge in the left foreground... Point 5907 is the snowy patch in the center of the photo.
A closeup of the Teanaway Peaks and Stuart Range... Point 5907 is the snowy patch in the foreground.
Group shot at our viewpoint on Lillian... front row... ragman, Snowdog and robman... back row... BarbE, Recon, iraman and rodman.
Recon and Izzy lead the group off of Lillian... we are heading for Haney Meadow and Tronsen Head.
Arriving at Haney Meadow (~5500').
BarbE found a snowman in Haney Meadow.
A pano shot of Haney Meadow... a favorite of snowmobilers.
ragman and BarbE have found the cabin at Haney Meadow.
Snowdog and BarbE just had to check out the accomodations.
Snowdog leads the group toward Tronsen Head.
We will need to gain ~500 feet of elevation to get up to Tronsen Head.
BarbE, robman, rodman, Recon and iraman crossing Tronsen Head... the exposed rocks are an indication of how windy it can be here.
From Tronsen Head... looking at Teanaway Peaks, the Stuart Range and Entiat Mountains... Tronsen Knob is in the left foreground... Tronsen Meadow is below.
Descending now... on the south side of Tronsen Knob.
robman descending... BarbE stays behind to take photos of the moon.
Very very rare to see two moons in one photo... you might have to look hard to find the second moon.
Between Diamond Head and Tronsen Knob now... with Navaho and Three Brothers in the foreground... Stuart, Argonaut, Colchuck and Dragontail are behind.
XC-15 leads back to Blewett Pass... so we will drop into Tronsen Meadow and get back to the car in 1.5 miles.
