Directions to the trailhead for Cathedral Rock.
A google earth look at the terrain around Cathedral Rock... our hike was ~2.5 miles roundtrip, gaining ~800 feet of elevation.
The Cathedral Rock area is purported to be a vortex site.
rocman and Jannu came with me on this hike.
A fairly steep hike... gaining 750 feet of elevation in the first .75 miles.

Looking west from the end of the maintained trail... for perspective, there is a couple on the ledge on the right side of the photo.
We will follow around to the left of the end of the maintained trail... for perspective, there is a woman in green in the lower left part of the photo.

rocman and Jannu posing in front of a cool looking spire... definitely worth continuing on from the end of the maintained trail.
Looking up from underneath the spire... I think we should continue exploring.

Continuing south and looking back at 'The Mace'.
We are hiking on a narrow shelf... just below these rocks.
Jannu on the shelf underneath the cliffs... there is a cairn just beyond her that signals the place where we will have to drop down a bit... Courthouse Butte in the distance.
Our shelf has come to an abrupt stop... and we will scramble down to another shelf.
Back on reasonable terrain again.
At the south end of Cathedral Rock and looking for the trail that is still 100 feet below us.
We will follow the trail as it goes around 'The Mace' and rejoins the main trail.

Heading back to the car on the main trail now... did I mention that it is steep in places.
