Burroughs Mountain and Skyscraper Mountain - 7.20.2015
A photo of the GPS track for our trip to Burroughs Mountain and Skyscraper Mountain in Mt. Rainier National Park... 11.5 miles roundtrip, gaining 3416 feet of elevation.

We parked (6400') in the Sunrise parking lot... where there are lots of hiking options.

We are a tenth of a mile from the Sourdough Ridge Trail... where we will turn west and head for Burroughs Mountain.

From Second Burroughs Mountain the trail loses 400 feet of elevation before heading up to Third Burroughs Mountain.

Between Second and Third Burroughs Mountain there is a junction with the trail for Glacier Basin... but we will continue for Third Burroughs.

Denali Girl is on the south end of Third Burroughs Mountain and heading for the summit... looks like there is a hiker over there with a serious camera set up.

At the summit we met Ronald Warfield... a retired park service ranger... the Chief park Naturalist at Mount Rainier National Park for the final ten years of his career... he was gracious enough to let me include this amazing photo from his collection. Google him for more photos and information on his career.

I'm going to head cross-country over to Skyscraper Mountain while Denali Girl hangs out for awhile on the Third Burroughs summit... then she will return to Sunrise via the trail.

Almost back to the parking lot at Sunrise... across the valley, Govenors Ridge, Barrier Peak and Tamanos Mountain are above the lodge... with the Cowlitz Chimneys and Banshee Peak on the right.
