North View Trail, Point 4155 and Point 4508 - 1.16.2017
The trailhead for the North View Trail is not really an official trailhead... there is a dirt parking area on the left side of the road... located ~1.8 miles from the West Entrance to the park... room for 6 cars.
The North View Trail is located in the same area as the North Canyon Trail and the Maze Loop Trail.
The North View Trail heads uphill... while the other two trails stay on the desert floor.
Joshua Tree.
Denali Girl heads up the North View Trail... lots of nice rock formations.
That is Point 4155 in the foreground... looks like it might provide a nice view... the snow covered peak in the distance is 11,499 foot San Gorgonio Mountain.
Heading for Point 4155... looking through the gap to the Yucca Valley.
Denali Girl coming up to the top of Point 4155.
From the summit of Point 4155 we are looking down on the town of Joshua Tree... with the snow covered San Bernardino Mountains on the horizon.
Cholla Cactus and nice rocks.
The North View Trail winding through the rocks.
Continuing on the North View Trail.
A selfie on the North View Trail.
We are all so small.
I decided to leave Denali Girl on the North View Trail and head cross country for Point 4508... she will continue on the trail and we will meet up a little later.
Nearing the summit of Point 4508.
I'm on the summit of Point 4508... looking north to the Yucca Valley... Denali Girl is on the North View Trail in the lower right of the photo.
Looking down at the Park Blvd Road... with the San Bernardino Mountains on the horizon.
Looking south from Point 4508 at the Little San Bernardino Mountains.
I will go around these two rock piles as I continue east along the ridge from Point 4508.
Looking back at Point 4508 in the left-center of the photo... you can see the North View Trail on the right.
I'm working cross-country along the ridge... heading toward Denali Girl who is on the North View Trail.
Somehow I convinced Denali Girl to leave the North View Trail and head cross-country with me back to the car.
Easy cross country travel.
Another mile or so of hiking to get back to the car... 4.3 miles roundtrip, gaining 1009 feet of elevation.
