Hall of Horrors - 2.6.2019
From the west entrance pay station of Joshua Tree National Park... drive 12 miles on Park Blvd and turn left into the signed parking area for the 'Hall of Horrors'... I took this photo from the parking area and we will follow the path on the right and go to the right of this pile of boulders because the hall is in a pile of boulders behind this pile.

I have hiked beyond the first huge pile of boulders and can see the pile of boulders behind the first pile... now we will hike over to the left side of this pile and see if we can find the entrance to the hall.

Standing at south end of the boulder pile... the entrance is up there in the right center of the photo where a yucca cactus is growing in front of two huge boulders.

Denali Girl is standing very close to where we entered the hall.

There is a hidden plateau in the huge pile of boulders... Kelly and Ryan hug each other just in case they don't survive this adventure.

Has Kelly found the route... nope, but we explored it before backing off a little.

Well... that's how I dealt with the boulder... mostly just hoping the boulder on my back is secure.

Kind of reminds me of the 'coffin move' in the 'Chasm of Doom'.

I'm leading now... and watching Denali Girl make a squeeze move.

One final little ramp that takes us down near the desert floor.

Denali Girl steps out into the open... having just come out of the slot in the left center of the photo... this is a very short hike/scramble, but it did take us 45 minutes to get through the boulder pile... hit a few dead ends along the way that caused us to back track and try another route.
