Tumalo Mountain - 4.18.2019
We parked at the Dutchman Flat Snow Park... located across the road from Mount Bachelor... it is a popular area for cross-country skiers and snowmobile riders.

Looking north from the Dutchman Flat Snow Park at South Sister and Middle Sister on the left... with the summits of Broken Top behind the trees in the right foreground... Ball Butte is on the far right of the photo.
Mount Bachelor from the Dutchman Flat Snow Park.
From the snow park we headed uphill very quickly on an obvious path... snowmobiles are not allowed on the west side of Tumalo Mountain.
After gaining several hundred feet of elevation on the west side of Tumalo Mountain, the trees became less dense and we started getting nice views of Bachelor.
At ~7000 feet we are above the big trees.
Still gaining elevation on the west side of Tumalo Mountain... looking SW at Mt. Bachelor on the left... and west to Sparks Lake in the center of the photo... and north to South Sister, Middle Sister and Broken Top on the right.
Nearing the summit area of Tumalo Mountain... not all snowmobilers obey the rules.
After hiking 1.5 miles we have reached the huge summit area of Tumalo Mountain... with the actual summit in the foreground on the far right.
A closer look at the Tumalo summit area in the right foreground... with South Sister, Middle Sister and Broken Top in the distance on the left.
Looking east from the Tumalo summit area... the Swampy Lakes Snow Park and Virginia Meissner Snow Park are below in the foreground... Paulina Peak is on the horizon in the center of the photo.
A closeup of South Sister, Middle Sister and Broken Top from the summit (7775') of Tumalo Mountain.
Time to more or less trace our steps back to the snow park... nice views of Mt. Bachelor until we get back down to the big trees.
Denali Girl works her way through the small trees just below the summit area of Tumalo Mountain.
Denali Girl nears our car in the Dutchman Flat Snow Park... our trip was 3 miles roundtrip, gaining 1460 feet of elevation... steep, but oh so worth the steepness.
