Pink Canyon and White Domes - 10.14.2019
Valley of Fire State Park is located an hour drive from Las Vegas... we paid the $10 entry fee... then parked just off of the White Domes Road at the 5th dip in the road after passing the visitor center... where the Kaolin Wash crosses the road.
|
Each of the wash crossings are numbered... but the signs are close to the ground and not always obvious... and we did park at the 5th wash crossing.
|
Pink Canyon is not really advertised by the park, but it literally begins right next to the road where we parked.

Denali Girl is hiking up out of Pink Canyon... the canyon opens up some after less than a quarter-mile... I found out later that we were actually on part of the Seven Wonders Trail.

We have left the Seven Wonders Trail and headed cross-country to cross the White Domes Road to check out the rock on the other side of the road... I will scramble up the mound in the center foreground of the photo.

We have found the place where the Seven Wonders Trail junctions with Kaolin Wash... we could go east here and follow the wash back to the car... but we decided to go west and follow the wash over to the White Domes.
