DeRoux Peak - 6.23.2021
We began this hike on Boulder DeRoux Trail #1392... pretty much located in the DeRoux Campground.

We have hiked 1.3 miles on the Boulder DeRoux Trail... now it is time to take DeRoux Spur Trail #1392.1 and start switchbacking up to the saddle that separates Koppen Mountain and DeRoux Peak.

After hiking a total of 2.6 miles we have reached the saddle that separates Koppen Mountain and DeRoux Peak... DeRoux Peak is the snow capped bump out there in the left center of the photo... the plan is to drop down into the basin on the left and hike up to the saddle on the far left of the photo... then up to DeRoux... and then follow the ridge line back to where we are standing now.

At the saddle separating Koppen Mountain and DeRoux Peak we stepped across Koppen Mountain Trail #1225 and will give up 300 feet of elevation as we continue to hike on the DeRoux Spur Trail 1392.1.

After hiking a total of 3.1 miles we have reached the junction of DeRoux Spur Trail 1392.1 and Middle Fork Teanaway Trail #1393... we will begin hiking west on the Middle Fork Teanaway Trail in search of the saddle that separates DeRoux Peak and 'The Louvre'.

After hiking a total of 4.9 miles we are nearing the saddle between DeRoux Peak (not in photo) and 'The Louvre' out there on the far left.

We have left the Middle Fork Teanaway Trail and are hiking north... following a boot path that will take us up the SW ridge of DeRoux Peak to the summit.

After hiking a total of 5.4 miles rocman and BarbE have reached the summit (6260') of DeRoux Peak... with the 5 summits of Esmeralda Peak in the center foreground... with Teanaway Peak and Iron Peak on the distant right... and most of the Stuart Range on the horizon behind Esmeralda Peak.

Rather than trace our steps back to the saddle between DeRoux and Koppen we decided to return to the saddle by hiking along the east ridge of DeRoux Peak... and the excellent views will continue for some time.

Continuing to hike along the east ridge of DeRoux Peak... and after hiking a total of 6.1 miles we will leave the ridge boot path and pick up Koppen Mountain Trail #1225 which we will follow back to the saddle between DeRoux Peak and Koppen Mountain.

After hiking a total of 7 miles we have returned to the saddle between Koppen Mountain (above) and DeRoux Peak... time to trace our steps the 2.6 miles back to the car... the hike was a total of 9.6 miles, gaining 3319 feet of elevation.
