Obsidian Trail - 8.28.2022
The trailhead for Obsidian Trail #3528 is located approximately 6.5 miles west of McKenzie Pass.

After hiking .9 miles we entered the Three Sisters Wilderness.

After hiking ~3 miles we came up out of the trees and started to cross a huge obsidian flow... with North Sister (left) and Middle Sister on the horizon.

There were a few stream crossings along the way.
|
After hiking a total of 3.8 miles we reached the junction of the Obsidian Trail #3528 and Glacier Way Trail #4336... we will continue hiking on the Obsidian Trail and eventually loop back to this trail junction via the Glacier Way Trail.

After hiking a total of 5.7 miles we have reached the junction of the Obsidian Trail and the Pacific Crest Trail... where we will head north on the PCT.

A very short distance from the junction of the Obsidian Trail and the PCT we reached the Obsidian Falls.

After hiking a total of 7 miles we have reached the junction of the PCT and Glacier Way Trail #4336... where we will take the Glacier Way Trail.

After hiking a total of 7.7 miles we have returned to the junction of the Glacier Way Trail and the Obsidian Trail... where we will follow the Obsidian Trail 3.8 miles back to our car.

One last look at North Sister and Middle Sister before dropping into the forest and heading for the car... the total hike was 11.5 miles, gaining 2178 feet of elevation.
