Sadie's Driver and 'Middle E' joined me on this hike... we parked next to the Cascade Lakes Hwy at the gated entrance to Mount Bachelor's Sunrise Lodge... the lodge is on the far left of this photo... and our destination is up above.

I took this photo from the same place as the previous photo... but here I'm looking NW along Cascade Lakes Hwy to South Sister on the horizon... this sign pretty much guarantees that you won't miss the gated entrance to Sunrise Lodge.
IMG_6807.jpg
After hiking a quarter mile we have reached the bottom of the Sunrise Express Chairlift... and you can see the unsigned, but obvious trail that will take us uphill from the Sunrise Lodge parking lot.
IMG_6808.jpg
After hiking a total of 1.3 miles we are leaving one of the ski area service roads and will follow a good trail for the rest of the way to the summit... this 1.3 miles consisted of some of the parking lot, a piece of trail and part of a ski area service road.

After hiking a total of 1.6 miles we have reached the top of the Sunrise Express Chairlift (left foreground) and the bottom of the Summit Express Chairlift (middle).

Continuing to gain elevation... here looking beyond the Summit Express Chairlift to South Sister, Middle Sister, North Sister and Broken Top.

'Middle E' looks over at Broken Top... and that is not an airplane hovering over the summit of Broken Top.
IMG_6818.jpg
Sadie's Driver works her way up the switch backs that will take us up to the summit of Mount Bachelor.
IMG_6820.jpg
After hiking a total of 2.8 miles 'Middle E' is getting ready to hike underneath the Summit Express Chairlift... and continue to gain elevation over to the Mount Bachelor Summit which is not in this photo.

IMG_6823.jpg
Still not on the summit... but still getting a lot of nice views along the way... with the Three Sisters and Broken Top on the horizon.
IMG_6824.jpg
Continuing to gain elevation... here looking SW to Crane Prairie Reservoir in the foreground... Wickiup Reservoir on the left... and Odell Lake beyond Crane Prairie and to the right of Wickiup... the snow-capped mountain on the right horizon is Diamond Peak.
IMG_6825.jpg
Still gaining elevation on our way to the Mount Bachelor summit.
IMG_6826.jpg
The very large summit area for Mount Bachelor is up there on the left... but we are going to get a nice view before reaching the summit.
IMG_6827.jpg
Almost on the summit... and the views are getting better with each step.
IMG_6828.JPG
On the Mount Bachelor summit area... with lots of water views from the SW (left) to the NW (right).
IMG_6829.jpg
After hiking a total of 3.2 miles Sadie's Driver is standing on the summit (9065') of Mount Bachelor.
IMG_6831.jpg
Looking out to the Three Sisters and Broken Top... and looking down on Sparks Lake on the left... and looking down on the ski area's Pine Marten Lodge and West Village... with Tumalo Mountain in the far right foreground.

A closer look down on Sparks Lake... with South Sister on the far right.

Tracing our steps back down to the car.
IMG_6843.jpg
Continuing back down a lot of switchbacks... looking beyond Cascade Lakes Hwy to Tumalo Mountain in the distance.
IMG_6844.jpg
Continuing to give up elevation as we switchback our way back down.
IMG_6846.jpg
Continuing to give up elevation on our way down.
IMG_6848.jpg
Did I mention that there were a lot of switchbacks on this trail.
IMG_6855.jpg
On the way down we found a good path that enabled us to skip most of the ski area service road and cut off a half-mile of hiking.
IMG_6858.jpg
Nearing the Sunrise Lodge and the bottom of the Sunrise Express Chairlift.
IMG_6859.jpg
A stone's throw from our cars parked out there next to the Cascade Lakes Hwy... the hike was a total of 5.9 miles, gaining 2660 feet of elevation.
