Wonderland of Rocks - 11.21.2024
We parked in the dirt parking lot located a quarter-mile NE of the very popular paved parking lot for Barker Dam in Joshua Tree National Park... and started hiking on the Wall Street Mill Trail.

After hiking less than a tenth of a mile on the Wall Street Mill Trail we turned to the left... leaving the Wall Street Mill Trail and following an obvious (but unsigned) trail to the left... heading for the Wonderland of Rocks.

Another tenth of a mile led us to the Worth Bagley homestead (aka the Pink House).

We entered the Wonderland of Rocks behind the Pink House and started hiking north in the wash... here with Shark Rock in the distance.

Continuing to hike north in the Wonderland of Rocks... here passing by the North and South Astro Dome.

After hiking a total of 2.1 miles we have turned to the west... leaving the major wash in the Wonderland of Rocks.

After hiking a total of 3 miles we have reached a view of the 'Unnamed Arch'... one of these days we might get up to it for a closer view.

After hiking a total of 3.6 miles we have closed the loop portion of our hike... now hiking south in the major wash of the Wonderland of Rocks... tracing our steps back to the car. The loop portion of the hike was approximately 2 miles.

A stone's throw from the parking lot... the total hike was 5.4 miles, gaining 296 feet of elevation.
