Mount Bachelor - 6.30.2026

At 6,400 feet of elevation I parked at the gated parking lot entrance to Mount Bachelor's Sunrise Lodge... just off of the Cascade Lakes Hwy.

Hiking up the road that leads over to the Sunrise Lodge... heading for the Sunrise Express Chairlift located in the left-center of the photo... where I will start hiking uphill on the right side of the chairlift.

Hiking uphill on an obvious path on the right side of the Sunrise Express Chairlift.

After hiking uphill on the right side of the chairlift for one tenth of a mile I will turn right onto a ski area service road and continue uphill.

After hiking on the ski area service road for two tenths of a mile I will turn left on the unsigned (but obvious) Fly Creek Trail which originates at Bachelor's West Village... here looking back down the service road to the Sunrise Lodge.... with Tumalo Mountain in the distance.

Continuing to hike uphill on the Fly Creek Trail... here crossing over to the left side of the Sunrise Express Chairlift.

After hiking a total of 1.2 miles I have reached the top of the Sunrise Express Chairlift in the foreground... located at 7,265 feet of elevation... with the bottom of the Summit Express Chairlift in the distance.

At the top of the Sunrise Express Chairlift I am leaving the Fly Creek Trail and heading up the Summit East Trail.

It was a 2.85 mile hike to the 9,065 foot summit and it seemed like every step was uphill.
